The Focolare (also known as the Work of Mary) is an ecclesial movement which aims to contribute to the fulfillment of the testament of Jesus, May they all be one. (Jn 17:21). Towards this goal, the members are guided by the principles of a spirituality rooted in key statements and truths found in the Gospel. The movement was founded in 1943 by Chiara Lubich in Trent, Italy. It is committed towards universal fraternity based on mutual love not only among Christians but also among peoples of different religions and even with those of different convictions. The collective spirituality lived by members of the Focolare urges one to go to God through the brother. It is a modern spirituality in answer to the needs of the times. This Spirituality of Unity is for all: children, young people, married people, the single, the consecrated, priests, brothers, sisters, bishops. Living the Gospel Values also becomes manifest in one's professional behavior bringing about change in one's own environment: Politics, Business, Education, Medicine, Arts, etc.
