Roodepoort Home Affairs.............. or should it be called "The Office of Who or What Affairs are we supposed to be dealing with again", is run by a bunch of incompitent know-it-nothings. I applied over a year & a half ago for resumption of citizen status, did the paperwork & paid the monies required, when phoning up recently I was told that Pretoria head office said everything is ok & to phone in a week to pick up the paperwork. One week later I phone up to pick up the paperwork to be told their are many problems blah blah blah only to have the phone put down on me when telling MUMSEY what number I can be contacted on when someone gets emplyed there who actually gets an IQ score of above at least 2 & can roughly tell me what the score is. Home Affais is more than a joke, all this BEE rubbish just goes to show that they employ people who dont know "JACK" and everyone wonders why the country is in the state its in.

I applied for an unabrigded birth certificate in late february of this year and i was given the impression that it was going to take 6 to 8 week but now i have waited for 9 month and i have been calling the call center for the past 6 of those months. Every time i call i'm am told that i should call again in three weeks.I desperatly needed the document to finalise my visa application and it is very frutrating to have no idea on what going on. It seem that home affairs is neglecting the public or the people employed by the office are simply incompitent. because of this delay i'm forced to put my life on hold. is there any way that people like us could ever get help, were else in other countries it take a meerfive day to proceess and finalise such a simply document.

My daughter, my son and I have all applied for our ID's. Sarah and I in 2004. Hugh early this year. Sarah and I are still waiting - having presented the receipts we are rudely and summarily instructed REAPPLY. Hugh applied earlier this year and, guess what??? REAPPLY!!! This department is a joke.

Compliment Yes, Home affairs at Roodeport was excellent when i first visited them, there is a gentleman who works at fingerprint department he''''s always smilling, with good service and dressed professional, you get service in any language of your preference and not to forget a security (lady) My reference for today when I phoned 0800 601 190 is 1104045475, I was helped by a gentlema who introduced himself Brian Xulu, he was short and clear to what I wanted to know, his service was excellent and I can feel that he was smilling when he was offering a help to me. Keep it up on your good work!!!! Amelia Maditjane

This department is a joke!! i called the offices on friday afternoon to find out if they are open for business on Saturday 27.11.10 and was advised that they would be from 8.30 to 12.00. (our travlel agents advised us they should be). My husband was up by 6 and left home at 7 to form the normal queue. He waited with a few other people until 8 when they were advised by a passerby that the offices do not open on a saturday!!! Was that a April fool joke advising me that they would be open? Further that the phones are never answered - are the staff too busy taking tea/lunch/chat breaks to answer phones. I really wish the relevant uthorities could look into the quality of people that are employed in this deparment. They are ignorant - have no idea what they are doing half the time and if they do get around doing it it take ages to do so and their attitudes stink.....these people need to be replaced by people on merit. We require a service that is presently not provided!!

On the 12th of August 2008, I went to the Department of Home Affairs in Randburg to revert back to my maiden name (Doig) and apply for a new ID Book. I got divorced on the 30 April 2004. At the Department of Home Affairs, I was informed that I am still married! I applied to change my surname back to my maiden name anyway, as this is my right and applied for a new ID Book. My finger prints were duly taken and three hours later I had completed the process - OR SO I THOUGHT! I then went to the High Court Archives to obtain a copy of my Divorce Decree and went back to Randburg, and completed the documents. Two months later Pretoria finally acknowledged my divorce, but still no ID Book. I have been following this up with Pretoria for TWO YEARS under reference number 1006015674. I was finally informed this week that I have to apply for South African Citizenship - even though I was BORN in this country and then re-apply. I took all my documents once again, paid once again and reapplied this morning, only to be told that I cannot be traced, nor can I apply for a temporary Identity Document, as they do not have my finger prints on record! I am getting remarried in 6 weeks time!!!!!! The Department cannot tell me whether I am Doig Or Hattingh (My Married name). I am livid, to say the least

My young sister went to the Roodepoort Home Affairs on the 03th of June to apply for her son's birth certificate but a lady by the name of Nora who is one of the employees there, gave my sister the forms and took the clinic card before the forms were submitted and when ask for the card back, she denied taking the card. Now the hospital can not issue another card and my nephew was supposed to get a 6 weeks injection and couldn't get one because all the clinics requires the card. He is now seven weeks and still struggling to get one because of one lady who is incompitent. This is very difficult for us and not fair the the baby and I will be greatful if something can be done about this. I tried calling the 011 279 7300 number but it is not going through, so now I am wondering if this is the corerct number on not because I got it on the website.

I applied for a new I.D. as i had go t married, and i must compliment the staff, I could not believe how suffiecient they were and i also thought i was going to wait forever, i loved that i could keep track of it on the internet and i would check every week and when the said it was ready to collect, i went in Saturday morning straight to the counter and received my new I.D. Well done and keep it up

I have a very great concern with regards to Home affairs in Roodepoort. My husband applied for his unabridged birth cert and his green id book was not even checked! But, yet generally, the staff there will make up their own rules, as the day progresses. I phoned to find out what I need to bring with to get a copy of my childs birth certificate, and whoever answered the call told me I need to bring "the slip" when I asked what slip and where do I get it, she said "tjo, you MUSt bring the slip" I am stunned at the level of stupidity that our government departments are being run at! She then transfered me to another lady who told me only my id was required, and the form must be completed ther, with R16.00 per doc. I said thaks and I will then send my hubby to collect. She said that no, it is better if the mother comes, when I asked why? what is the reason for the mother to come? she could not answer me , she just kept saying its better if I come. I sent my husband anyway, and he had no problem collecting. So why are our public servants so determined to make a small situation a difficult one? Is it because they feel they are in a position of superiority, because they are providing a service????? South Africa WE ARE IN TROUBLE!
From : Sick and tired
I requested a child''s passport in June 2008 attaching a letter to explain that I needed the passport rather urgently. I spoke to the lady at the counter asking if she could expedite my application. She gave me the number and name of a lady in the back office who I called later that day. Though she did not promise me anything, she said she would see what she could do. The passport was ready 2 weeks later. Brilliant service. Keep it up!
