The Swim school was started in 1996. Monica Fisher the owner, started teaching swimming after leaving, her Phys Ed post at Rosebank Convent. I believe that all children should have a basic knowledge of swimming as there are so many potential water dangers in South Africa. Children should learn to swim in a happy and fun enviroment - we want our children to always enjoy water and if they are so inclined to have the basics so that they can take their swim knowledge to a higher level. We teach swimming all year - indoor heated pooll We teach Babies from 6 months, with the parents in the water - giving children basic water knowledge, while the parents are educated as to how to teach their children to swim, as early as possible, but without pushing the child beyond their limits. We teach the Learn to Swim programme each child has their own teacher, thus each child can progess according to their own development and potential. Finally we have the Team Swim programme - these children can swim all 4 strokes completly on their own with a fair amount of style. They swim in a group where they are taught gala rules, continue with stroke technique, and fitness. At Mony's Fishers Swim school the child must always feel in control, and never forced beyond their abilities. We believe that children will progress when they have confidence in themselves, and trust in their teacher. We have no fixed age limits on the programmes that the children attend, as we believe that each child is an individual and will progress accordingly.
