The Vision of Embark Foundation: To establish and duplicate sustainable projects within nearby communities through the building of meaningful relationships and in so doing impart creative energy, vitality, dignity and a new sense of purpose and hope in people’s lives. All organizations are heavily dependant on funds, resources and volunteers to operate. Embark Foundation is no different. Embark Foundation has initiated many projects or aligned itself with organizations that are already successfully in place. We are totally involved in generating the necessary funds or resources to meet those needs. By enlisting the help of the greater community we give them the opportunity to be a part of something that is for the greater good of all. ‘Back-to-School’ In January and February each year we launch the ‘Back-to-School’ project. The main aim is to provide satchels filled with the necessary stationary for starting a new year. The beneficiaries are mostly the children that are fed at our food-kitchens. We have been able to supply approximately 500 such satchels annually from this initiative. ‘Kinders-van-die-winter’ / ‘Children-of-Winter’ From April to June we focus on our ‘Children-of-Winter’ initiative. This initiative helps and supports in three ways. Firstly, the children (from our food-kitchens) receive jerseys for school and blankets. Approximately 750 children benefit from this project annually. Secondly, the elderly and unemployed adults with dependants receive blankets. Last year we were able to donate more than 300 blankets. Thirdly, it is part of a job-creation program. We supply wool and needles to the women at West Rand Community Center. They knit most of the school jerseys. We buy the jerseys back from them to donate to the children. EXPO Arts & Crafts @ Mosaļek The Expo Arts & Crafts @ Mosaiek is an exclusive market and has been firmly established and boasts of more than a decade of success. It is a well known event with exposure from local to international visitors. The Expo is Embark Foundation's main annual fund-raiser to support our various projects. This initiative assists also in job creation for exhibitors, students, and unemployed adults. Many a first time entrepreneur has benefitted from this opportunity to make a successful start.
