MARCH 2010 UPDATE

Crime in CKRF during February was similar to other months but contact crimes (Common Robbery, House Robbery etc. ) are down.

There were two house robberies during February. In both cases the residents were followed into the premises by the suspects. Take care that you are not being followed. Don’t leave your gates or doors open when you get home. This is an invitation for criminals to invade your home.

The most active days for crime at present are Wednesdays and Fridays. There are also more crimes in the afternoon / evening. A number of house burglaries are taking place at night while the residents are asleep at home. If you have an alarm, test it regularly and arm it when you are out or while you are asleep.

A number of crimes in the area are being committed by a gang who make use of various colour ( White, Silver or Champagne) Mercedes Benz C class cars or a black Nissan Navarro. There are  usually 3 to 4 BM suspects. This gang is very dangerous and should not be approached! Please contact the sector police if you notice anything suspicious.

There was no discernable crime pattern this month with one or two crimes occurring in a number of streets. Fairview Drive, Golf Club Terrace and William Nicol / 14th Ave had multiple incidents.

The sector cell phone is out of order at present. This is being replaced and should be back in service shortly. If you need to report a crime in progress or any emergency use the 10111 number. We have been advised by SAPS that a number of Alarm / Patrol companies have signed a memorandum of understanding with the Police to share crime information and assist each other. Report suspicious activity to your private alarm company if you cannot reach the sector cell phone. They have a radio link with SAPS in their control room. We will advise the names of these companies but believe it includes Chubb, ADT and DCS.

Our CKRF Chairman, Gary Marsh, is also the Chairman of the Florida Cluster CPF. He has requested that if you have any complaints regarding SAPS personnel or service you please send details of your experiences to him. These will be raised at a monthly meeting that is held with Florida SAPS. His e-mail is gary@comp-o-print.co.za
